Geopolitical Resources
This page is here to efficiently include links for various resources and sites with geopolitics.
Legend:
As with all pages the ‘✙’ sign is there to warn you/put in a “first do no harm” designation notification.
A ‘do not pet that dog 🐻’ notification means you should stay the hell away or completely distrust whatever that product/security/site/external piece of advice is. To understand where the ‘do not pet that dog’ reference comes from watch this video here: link
To understand where I’m coming from do these two things first:
You should start at the link, then you can start reading what I write and it will make more sense: watch this first
Once you’ve watched that video, if you want to get into the nitty gritty of what’s been happening since the industrial period and what our potential future portends, read The End of the World Is Just the Beginning: Mapping the Collapse of Globalization. Zeihan is crass and hyperbolic, but it’s still a good read. The main determinants of state power are demographics and geography. The only tech that really truly changes those dynamics are ones that change our relationship with geography (like trains, and not say, AI).
Folks/Blogs I respect:
War on the Rocks “analysis and debate on strategy, defense, and foreign affairs”
George Friedman an analyst who is the founder of Stratfor
Peter Zeihan (crass and hyperbolic perhaps, but on demographics and resources, he’s typically correct)
Ray Dalio (too pessimistic about the US and has blinders on regarding China, but still worth listening to)
Mohamed El-Erian (one of the main economists I listen to on global finance)
Chris Dougherty (good military analyst)
Michael Kofman (expert on Russia’s military)
Mark Hertling (former US Army General)
For the ongoing War in Europe (Ukraine specifically):
Here is an excellent live Reddit on the Ukraine War
Ukraine War data (obviously slightly dated for security reasons)
